Sunday 5th event course notes

This Sundays event  12-1pm  State Highway 3, Hydro Road, left to TOPEC, has 5 courses of the ‘classic’ type event  i.e. point to point in a predefined  sequence  with the total  time  to complete the chosen event  being the determinate of final placing.

For the participants The courses difficulty are defined by their “colour “ and length  with:

White: being the easiest level and shortest distance.  This will have controls at distinct features on the map and is geared to kids up to about 12years of age. The control descriptions are basic and written down

The yellow course is the next grade. The controls will be close to, say no more than 50m  away from a distinct feature in the map.  This course is suitable to first time adults and introduction  for youths up to 16 years old.

Orange course s have Control features, that are smaller and more specific items away from track or fence lines and other map features.  The controls are both of written description and description symbols /icons.

Red long and red short courses are firstly defined by their length obviously. The long will have a greater number of controls spread over a larger area, Participants should be able to complete their chosen course in around  45 minutes more or less.  Red controls are as hard as possible with multiple route choices and fine detail map reading required, Reds are suited to well acquainted participants who can read orienteering description symbols. This will suit the sophistic, bloody minded ,dogmatic and determined 15 year old and up individual.

Have fun on Sunday arvo Andrew McNeill is the course setter (which you can take to mean that the courses will be true to type, and unimpeachably accurate, with a twist of sinister intent on the hardest controls.) r
